How many times have you heard someone say, “God answers prayers in His perfect timing?” As a pastor, I know I have encouraged others with this phrase hundreds of times, and I have probably repeated it to myself thousands of times.
I’m not a patient person.
For those of you who know me well, this comes as no surprise. For the rest of you… surprise, I am just like you and want God to work on my timeframe, which for the most part is instantaneously.
As we prepare to return to Romania, I often pray for patience and ask God to help me trust in His timing and in His will. Yet, more times than not, I find myself fretting because things are not happening fast enough or how I want them to. That is, until last week. Last week God moved fast; almost too fast.
On Tuesday October 16th, Lynsey and I put our house on the market. For the past two and a half years we have tinkered, painted, repaired, and beautified this home. We purchased it for less than most buy a new car for and have done all we could do to get top dollar for it. The goal has been that through the sale of this home we would be able to pay off my student loans, so that when we return to Romania we are debt free and have smaller budget requirements. So, on Tuesday the house was listed, on Wednesday the listing was online, and on Thursday it was SOLD.
We have been praying for God to bring us the perfect buyer and for the house to sell in His timing. God’s timing was fast, and His buyer paid FULL PRICE!
In his letter to the people of Philippi, Paul wrote:
God promises over and over in His word that He will meet our needs, that He will care for us, that He loves us, and time and time again He proves to be faithful. God blessed us with this home, which we bought on auction while still living in Romania. God blessed us again last week by providing a buyer so we can go back to Romania.
God’s will in perfect, His timing is perfect, and He is always faithful!
It is in times like these that I find myself in awe of God’s love. I have been a Christian for almost 12 years now. In that short amount of time God has blessed me more than any one man should be blessed. I have a beautiful family, God’s ministry has taken me all around the world, I have been allowed to serve as a Pastor, and now as I prepare to follow God once again to Romania, the blessings seem to flow like the rushing river.
How great is our God! What incredible news, Spencer. So what will you all do between the time of leaving your house and getting to Romania????
So incredible… GOD IS SO GOOD… God has great plans for your whole family… AMEN>
Praise God. That is huge confirmation! Our family will continue to keep you and yours in our prayers.
After the sale of our house, we had the wonderful blessing of staying with an amazing couple that has showered us with love and encouragement. We have one more day with them, and the kids and I are soaking up every second of it. This couple has been another one of God’s many blessings.
